African Football League : Enyimba To Get #770M As Participation Fee

The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) will pay Nigerian champions, Enyimba FC, the sum of $1,000,000 (about 770,500,000 million Naira) for participation ahead of the Africa Football League, BSNSports.com.ng reports. 

CAF announced the prize money for the inaugural African Football League (AFL) tournament which will feature the highest-ranked and most successful football clubs on the African continent on Saturday.

According to football governing body, winners of the 8-team tournament will gulp down a huge sum of Four Million Dollars.

“The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the Prize money for the inaugural African Football League (AFL) competition which will feature the highest-ranked and most successful football clubs on the African continent,” an official statement read.

According to the football governing body, the competition will kick off in October, with the first fixture happening at Simba SC (Tanzania) and Al Ahly (Egypt).

“The AFL will kick-off on Friday 20 October, 2023 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania; and will feature Simba SC(Tanzania) and Al Ahly SC(Egypt).”

Nigeria’s representative at the African Football League, Enyimba FC. The Aba-based club will kick-off it’s campaign against former Botola Pro champions Wydad Casablanca of Morocco in Uyo.

Other clubs that will be featured in the tournament are the following: Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), Esperance De Tunis (Tunisia), TP Mazembe.

The Prize Money for the AFL is as follows:

$4m for the Winner

$3m for the Runner-up

$1.7m for each of the Semi-finalists

$1m for each of the Quarter-finalists
