African Football League Set To Return

The African club football scene is set for a major boost as the African Football League (AFL) edges closer to a return following a period of suspension due to logistical challenges, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The competition, introduced a few years ago to elevate club football across the continent, made an immediate impact during its debut edition. 

South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns emerged as the inaugural champions after defeating Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly in the final.

Since then, the tournament has been on hold, with organizers working behind the scenes to address structural and logistical concerns.

However, fresh optimism has emerged following comments from Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Patrice Motsepe, who hinted that plans are underway to revive the competition.

Motsepe suggested that the African Football League could make a comeback later in the year, with several top clubs from across the continent expected to participate.

The return of the AFL is widely anticipated to enhance competitiveness, increase commercial value, and further showcase African club football on the global stage.
