African Nation U18 Championship: Handball Federation President Attributes World Cup Ticket To Team Work

By Sampson Adedeji

The President of the Nigeria Handball Federation Sam Ocheho has attributed the qualification of the Nigeria Women U18 team as a success, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigerian side defeated Angola last weekend to finish the competition in Tunisia in 3rd position.

While speaking to Brila FM Radio on Monday, Ochebo praised the girls for their commitment and dedication.

" This podium finish is something I'm happy about. We've been to the World Cup with youth team men, they've also been to the podium for the bronze medal.

"Our Junior men's team has also won a bronze medal at the African Cup of Nations but our female team has not achieved that in recent times.

These young ladies two years ago were playing at U12 and U15 levels, now they've risen to the level of a podium finish at the African Cup of Nations.

"I'm so happy that we are doing the right thing. It shows that we can continue to focus on youth development. We surely begin to have a podium finish at the senior level, so, I'm happy and excited.

"I'm happy with the girls and the quality they showed, I'm also happy with the level of display they show.

"So, in terms of my overall feedback on the tournament, it's a pure success", he said.
