African Representatives Await Confirmation After FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Draw

FIFA has officially conducted the draw for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, with the 24 participating teams distributed into six groups of four ahead of the tournament in Morocco, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Hosts Morocco headline Group A alongside New Zealand, Germany, and Argentina in what promises to be one of the most competitive groups of the tournament.

Group B features Korea DPR, Puerto Rico, Poland, and one of Africa’s yet-to-be-confirmed representatives, identified as CAF 1. In Group C, Canada will battle Brazil, Norway, and CAF 2, while Group D comprises Japan, France, Venezuela, and CAF 3.

The United States, Samoa, China PR, and CAF 4 were drawn into Group E, while reigning European champions Spain will face Mexico, Chile, and Australia in Group F.

The tournament, scheduled to take place in Morocco from October 17 to November 7, 2026, will be the second edition to feature an expanded 24-team format. 

Africa’s four remaining representatives are yet to be confirmed as the CAF qualifying series enters its decisive stage. The first-leg matches of the final qualification round will be played this weekend, with the return fixtures scheduled for the following weekend. 

Nigeria’s Flamingos remain among the contenders seeking qualification for the global tournament after receiving a bye into the latter stages of the African qualifiers due to their strong continental ranking. 

FIFA is expected to release the full match schedule, including venues and kick-off times, following the completion of the qualification process and confirmation of all participating teams.
