African Summit: Morocco Realised Over Two Billion Dollars For Hosting AFCON 2025

CAF President Patrice Motsepe has revealed that more than $2 billion was generated for the Moroccan economy during the last edition of the Africa Cup of Nations hosted by Morocco, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Speaking at the Africa Forward Summit in Kenya, Motsepe highlighted the massive global impact of the tournament, describing it as one of the most successful editions in the history of African football.

According to the CAF president, the competition attracted about 2.5 billion television viewers worldwide, while also recording 6.2 billion digital interactions across various platforms. He added that 118 countries were connected to the tournament.

Motsepe said the tournament’s success also had a significant economic impact on Morocco, with approximately $2 billion injected into the country’s economy through tourism, hospitality, broadcasting, and other commercial activities.

The South African football administrator also praised Morocco’s historic performance at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where the Atlas Lions became the first African nation to reach the semi-finals of the competition.

He stated that Morocco’s achievement made the entire African continent proud and demonstrated the growing strength of African football on the global stage.
