African Track Cycling C/ship: Buhari Pledges Support For Cycling in Nigeria.

Nigeria President, Muhammadu Buhari has declared total support for the country's cycling, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

This was revealed by the Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare at the opening ceremony of the 2022 African Track Cycling Championship held at the Velodrome, Moshood Abiola Stadium Abuja, on Thursday 17th July, 2022. 

He said; "As a government we will continue to do our best to create an enabling environment for the Cycling community and athletes to grow, we will make sure they will remain tops of the African continent and to progress on the international scene.


Dare who declared open the 4th edition of the African Track Cycling Competition hosted by Nigeria also commended the leadership of the Union of International Cycling (UCI) and the Confederation of African Cycling (CAC) for their input in promoting Cycling in Africa and Nigeria in particular.

He also commended the President of the Cycling Federation of Nigeria, Engr. Giandomenico Masari on his role in aiding Nigeria to host this year's edition and making cycling a prominent sports in the country and also a force in global cycling.

The 2022 edition is the second time Nigeria wil be hosting the championship, after emerging as winners when it hosted in 2019.


Algeria, Benin Republic, Burundi, Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt, Guinea, Morocco, Niger, South Africa, Sudan, Togo and Tunisia who vowed to upset the hosting country are present at the opening ceremony.
