AfroBasket 2025: D’Tigers Set To Arrive Nigeria On Tuesday
Sampson Adedeji
Following their exit from the 2025 Men’s AfroBasket, Nigeria’s senior basketball team, D’Tigers, are scheduled to return home on Tuesday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
D’Tigers’ campaign ended in the quarterfinals after a 91–75 defeat to Senegal on Wednesday night.
Despite a strong start in which they edged the first quarter 24–23, the Nigerians could not sustain the momentum and were eventually knocked out.
Just weeks ago, Nigerians celebrated the women’s national team, D’Tigress, who captured the AfroBasket crown after stunning Senegal in the semifinals and clinching the title.
Their triumph was rewarded with $100,000, houses, and national honours from the Presidency.
In contrast, Tuesday’s return of D’Tigers is expected to be a quiet one, with no fanfare awaiting the team.
Attention now shifts to their preparations for the 2027 FIBA World Cup qualifiers, where the team will aim to bounce back stronger.
