Ahead of Milan Derby: Chukwueze Eyes Martins, Joel Obi’s Record

Super Eagles’ and AC Milan attacker, Samuel Chukwueze will be aiming to equal Obafemi Martins and Joel Obi’s Milan derby goal when his side tackles Inter in today’s league clash, bsnsports.com.ng gathers.

Martins, who once star for Inter Milan in his heydays, scored his first and only Milan derby goal in the 2005/2006 Serie A season while Joel Obi achieved similar feat when he recorded an equalizer for the Nerazzurri on November 20, 2014. 

Having signed for the Rossoneri in the 2023/2024 summer, the Nigerian born striker, who is yet to record a derby goal has featured in three Milan derby which spread across eighteen months. He made his first derby appearance in September 16 2023. The duel ended with a 5-1 massacre from arc rival, Inter Milan. The 25 year-old also tasted action in the reverse fixture but his six minutes appearance wasn’t enough to save the Red and Black. 

He however inspired his side to a 1-2 away victory while failing to bang a goal in the last September 22 duel. 

Anticipating the much waited encounter, the erstwhile Villarreal star, will equal his compatriot derby goal record should he net tomorrow night.

He has however inspired his club to 8th on the current Serie A log while scoring seven goals in all appearances for Sergio Conceicao side.
