Ajakaye: Super Falcons Will Get Job Done Against Ethiopia In Abuja, Celebrates 1st International Cap

Ajakaye Opeyemi has expressed optimism that the Super Falcons will get the job done against Ethiopia in the Paris 2024 Women Olympic Football Tournament qualifying second leg fixture in Abuja, as she celebrated earning her first international cap for the team on Wednesday in Addis Ababa, reports BSNSports.com.ng.

Stand-in captain Atletico Madrid star Rasheedat Ajibade salvaged the scoreline for Nigeria in the 52nd minute at the Abebe Bikila Stadium, with a superb long-range strike after Birkie Amare had put the Ethiopians ahead in the 6th minute.

Ajakaiye who displayed brilliance during the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, in India and recently finished as the top scorer at the 2023 WAFU B Cup in Ghana, was full of praise on her feat.

She shared her delight on Tiwtter now X, "Happy to have earned my 1st senior cap for Nigeria’s Super Falcons. I appreciate everyone for the support since my youth ranks. Wearing the Nigeria colours will always be cherished in my heart. My future is in God’s hands. Let’s get the job done next week in Abuja.”

Ethiopia, who advanced to this stage after eliminating Chad in the first round, will be visiting Nigeria on Tuesday, October 31st for the second leg.

The Super Falcons have competed in the Olympics in 2000, 2004, and 2008.
