Akinade Onigbinde Win First Title With Doma United

Head coach of the Nigeria Professional Football League side, Doma United, Akinade Onigbinde led the Tigers to win his first title with the club by retaining the Gombe State FA Cup trophy after beating bitter rivals, Gombe United in final, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

Doma United came out victorious after hard fought 9-8 win on penalties. The regulation time ended 1-1 before heading to penalties.

Speaking with BSN Sports after the Federation Cup victory against Gombe United, elated Onigbinde said dedicated the trophy to God, the owner of the club, players and officials for making it possible to emerge victorious.

He added that the proprietor of the club should be praised for his relentless efforts in making things available for players to concentrate on the set goal.

"Winning the FA Cup on Wednesday final means a lot to me as that is my first title with the club and mark the beginning of good things to come my way.

"I dedicate the trophy to God, the owner of the club, players, officials and fans for their supports.

"Of course, the best way to pay back the fans and club owner for their trust in me is to retain the title they won last year.

Doma United shocked Gombe United in the final of the 2022 Gombe state FA Cup by winning the title on also penalties.

Like 2023 final, regulation time had ended 0-0 before the final was taken to penalities which Doma United jubilating with a 4-2.

The Wednesday FA Cup final will held at 4:00pm at the Pantani Stadium, Gombe State.

After today's final, Doma United next game will be a home northeast derby against Wikki Tourist of Bauchi on Sunday 16th April 2023 at the Pantami Township Stadium, Gombe.
