Akwa United Hold Enyimba to Goalless Draw In Pre-Season Friendly

By Precious Oham

Enyimba FC played out a goalless draw with Akwa United in a keenly contested pre-season friendly match today at the training pitch of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Aba-based side, led by Yemi Olanrewaju, dominated possession in the early stages of the game and created lots of goal-scoring opportunities, but Akwa United's defense held firm. The visitors also had their share of chances, with Enyimba's defense making great attempts to shut out the visitors.

Enyimba FC's starting lineup included new signings Moses Adikwu, Ismail Saraki and Ufere Chinedu who lined up with Innocent Gabriel Uwana Asuquo and Elijah Akanni respectively. Jeptha Clinton and Joseph Atule led the attack, but neither team could find the back of the net.

Despite creating great and spectacular scoring chances, Enyimba FC couldn't capitalize on them, and the match ended in a stalemate.

The match served as a valuable exercise for both teams as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Enyimba FC will look to build on this performance as they continue their pre-season preparations, with their next match scheduled for Monday against Rivers United in Port Harcourt.

The team will be seeking to improve their scoring form and make a strong statement ahead of the new season.
