Alex Iwobi achieved a significant milestone by playing his 90th match for Nigeria as the Super Eagles triumphed over Gabon Panthers with a commanding 4-1 victory after extra time on Thursday, during the World Cup semi-final playoff in Rabat, Morocco, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Fulham midfielder, who has dedicated a decade to the Super Eagles, has scored 10 goals, placing him in a tie with notable players like Victor Moses and Peter Odemwingie in terms of scoring contributions.
After an impressive 108-minute performance in midfield, Iwobi now ranks as the fourth most-capped player in the history of the Super Eagles.
Additionally, he has matched the appearances of Chelsea legend John Mikel Obi on Nigeria’s all-time appearances list.
It’s worth noting that in October, Iwobi made history by becoming the first Nigerian to reach 300 appearances in the Premier League, further solidifying his legacy in both club and international football.
