Algeria FA Proposes New Rule Restricting Clubs From Signing Foreign Players

The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has discussed the introduction of a new regulation that would limit clubs from signing foreign players who lack sufficient international experience, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Under the proposed law, Algerian clubs would only be allowed to register foreign players who have made at least five appearances for their national teams across all age categories within the last three years.

The move is aimed at improving the quality of foreign players arriving in the Algerian league while encouraging clubs to focus more on developing local talents.

If approved, the regulation could significantly change the recruitment strategy of Algerian clubs, as teams will have to prioritise players with proven international exposure rather than relying on less-established foreign signings.

The FAF is expected to continue discussions with stakeholders before making a final decision on the implementation of the new rule.
