The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) is preparing to escalate its dispute with the Confederation of African Football over the controversial sanctions stemming from the Algeria–Nigeria clash at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Algerian football authority is considering filing a formal complaint against CAF’s disciplinary committee, citing the body’s failure to respond to its appeal concerning the sanctions imposed after the encounter involving the Algeria national football team and the Nigeria national football team.
According to reports, the FAF has sent multiple reminders and followed due process, but has received no official response for nearly two months, prompting frustration within the federation.
As a result, the FAF is now weighing further action, including taking the matter to CAF’s Executive Committee or General Assembly. The federation is also not ruling out escalating the dispute to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The Algerian body is specifically demanding the annulment of the sanctions, arguing that its right to a fair hearing has been violated in the handling of the case.
