Algeria has declared its readiness to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations should the joint bid of Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda be unable to stage the tournament, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The North African nation, which boasts modern sporting infrastructure and experience in hosting major continental competitions, confirmed it is prepared to step in at short notice if required.

The 2027 edition of the tournament was awarded to the East African trio, marking a historic first for the region.

However, concerns have continued to surface regarding the pace of preparations and the ability of the three nations to meet the stringent requirements set by the Confederation of African Football.

Algeria, which successfully hosted the 2022 African Nations Championship, has reiterated its willingness to support African football by ensuring the competition is delivered at the highest standard if called upon.

CAF is expected to continue monitoring the progress of the co-hosts, with contingency plans likely to remain in place as the tournament approaches.
