Algeria secured a place in the quarterfinals after a dramatic 1–0 victory over the Democratic Republic of Congo, setting up a highly anticipated clash with Nigeria’s Super Eagles.m, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The tightly contested encounter appeared destined for penalties after both sides failed to find the breakthrough during regulation time. However, Algeria’s persistence paid off deep into extra time when Boulbina struck in the 119th minute, delivering a heartbreaking defeat for DR Congo and sending Algeria through.

Nigeria, meanwhile, advanced in emphatic fashion after dismantling Mozambique 4–0 on Monday. Victor Osimhen led the charge with a brace, while Man of the Match Ademola Lookman and Akor Adams added a goal apiece to complete the dominant performance.

The quarterfinal encounter between Nigeria and Algeria is scheduled for Saturday, 10 January, at the Marrakech Stadium, with both teams expected to battle fiercely for a place in the semifinals.
