Chelsea have reportedly made initial inquiries about Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen as the club begins preparations for a major squad overhaul under incoming manager Xabi Alonso, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Blues are expected to be active in the transfer market following a disappointing 2025/26 season that saw them finish 10th in the Premier League and miss out on European qualification.

With several players potentially heading for the exit, including Brazilian forward Joao Pedro, who has attracted interest from Barcelona, Chelsea are keen to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new campaign.

Alonso, who is set to officially take charge on July 1 on a four-year contract, has reportedly identified the signing of a proven goalscorer as one of his top priorities, with Osimhen emerging as a leading target.

The Nigerian international enjoyed another impressive season with Galatasaray, scoring 22 goals across all competitions. His tally included 15 league goals and seven strikes in 10 UEFA Champions League appearances, underlining his reputation as one of Europe's most prolific forwards.

Galatasaray secured Osimhen on a permanent transfer from Napoli last summer in a club-record deal and are understood to be reluctant to part with their star striker. However, reports suggest an offer in the region of €100 million could test the Turkish club's resolve.

Chelsea possess the financial resources to pursue such a move, but they are unlikely to have a clear path to securing the striker's signature.
