Amaju Pinnick-led Board Plans To Use FIFA To Stay Till 2023 Exposed

With the case stopping the September 2022 Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) elections set to be withdrawn, one will think nothing else should stop the Federation from holding the Congress leading to the elections.

The NFF had stated that the Congress where the electoral processes will be set on motion could not seat due to the ex-parte order from a Federal High Court in Bayelsa.

The case, BSN Sports understands would be withdrawn this Thursday.

However, combustion gases from the Chimney has it that current Board of the Nigeria Football Federation led by President Amaju Pinnick have made a plea to FIFA for the Board to remain for at least one more year till 2023, citing legal litigations as the clog disrupting the scheduled September 2022 elections.

It is believed that Amaju Pinnick, using his close ties at FIFA, has made an application to the football governing body for an extension of the tenure of the current board. If this goes through, it implies there will be no election this year, as inroads are already being made at FIFA, to see to this.

The NFF were dragged to a Bayelsa Federal High Court by a Board member of Nembe City football club, challenging the legality of the last NFF Elections. It is on the back of this, the Amaju Pinnick led board are believed to be tying their hope of an extension.

A failure to stage the September 2022 election is cast in stone to be a major catastrophe for Nigerian football because to the apprehension that would come with this. It is from the General Assembly, the NFF Congress would discuss modalities in compliance with the NFF Statutes.
