Ampem Darkoa Shock Delta Queens, Qualify For CAF Women's Champions League
By Sampson Adedeji
The hope of Nigeria's Delta Queens to reach the final playoff round of the CAF Women Champions League in Ivory Coast has finally become a mirage, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Nigerian teams have reached the final playoff round of the competition since inception 2 years ago.
Delta Queens reached the final of the qualifier after beating all the teams that came across them right from the group stage.
They defeated Athletico FC in the semifinal and set up a final clash against Ampem Darkoa.
Darkoa walloped Sam Nelly 6-1 in their semi-final and looked primed for the final game.
Playing at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin, the host Delta Queens dominated the game but it was Darkoa that netted the only goal of the game through Ohpelia Amposah.
The result means that Delta Queens is out of the competition and Ampem Darkoa will represent the region in the Ivory Coast.
