Arokodare: Why I Took Ajax No. 99 Shirt

Super Eagles forward, Tolu Arokodare has given reasons why he opted for the Ajax number 99 shirt after completing his transfer on Wednesday, reports BSNSports.com.ng.

"The number 99? When I was a kid, I saw Ronaldo play with number 99 at AC Milan, so it seemed pretty cool. When I signed my first pro contract in Latvia, the number 9 was already taken, so I took the number 99. Almost every time I played with the number 99, I had a pretty good season, so I am hoping to have a good season here too.”

Speaking further, "The last few days? I have been very impatient. Since I knew about the interest of Ajax, I couldn’t wait to get the deal done. I kept putting pressure on my agent. What did I say to my agent when he told me Ajax were interested? I thought he was joking! I could never have imagined it; it is one of the biggest clubs in European football, and I can’t wait to join and help the team.”

Ajax signed the Nigerian striker on a loan deal from Wolves, with the agreement including an option to buy, allowing the 25-year-old to rediscover his best form in Amsterdam.
