Super Eagles–eligible midfielder Ethan Nwaneri could face an uncertain future at Arsenal F.C. this summer as the club prepares to conduct a financial review ahead of the next transfer window, according to reports from The Telegraph.

The 19-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough campaign last season, registering nine goals and two assists in 37 appearances across all competitions. His impressive performances earned him a long-term contract extension with Arsenal last summer amid interest from several Premier League rivals, including Chelsea F.C..

However, Nwaneri has found it difficult to replicate that form during the current campaign. In search of regular first-team football, the midfielder secured a loan move to Olympique de Marseille, where he is aiming to continue his development and gain valuable senior experience.

Despite the recent dip in influence, Arsenal still regard Nwaneri as a promising talent within the club’s long-term plans. He is reportedly considered alongside several key first-team players, including Gabriel Martinelli, Ben White, Martin Ødegaard, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus, as well as highly rated academy prospect Myles Lewis-Skelly.

Away from club football, Nwaneri’s international future has also generated interest. Although he has represented England national under-21 football team at youth level, he remains eligible to play for the Nigeria national football team through his heritage. With no senior appearance yet for England national football team, officials from the Nigeria Football Federation are reportedly monitoring his progress as they seek to persuade him to switch allegiance.

Arsenal’s financial review is expected to shape the club’s transfer strategy ahead of the summer window, potentially affecting decisions on player retention and squad restructuring.
