Aruna, Goda Set For Action As WTT Star Contender Serves Off In Sloveni

Nigeria’s Quadri Aruna and Egypt’s Hana Goda are among the top stars gearing up for the 2025 WTT Star Contender Ljubljana, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The high-profile tournament, taking place at Hala Tivoli in Slovenia, features a total prize pool of $300,000 and offers crucial ITTF World Ranking points. Singles champions will pocket $17,000 and earn 600 points, while doubles winners will claim $5,500 and the same number of ranking points.
Africa’s top-ranked player, Aruna, who currently sits 24th in the world, is seeded 14th in the men’s singles and has been handed a bye into the second round (last 32). He will face the winner of the first-round clash between Japan’s Shunsuke Togami and China’s Xu Haidong.
In the women’s category, Egypt’s teenage sensation Hana Goda, seeded 15th, also received a bye into the second round. She is set to meet the winner of the match between Japan’s Sakura Yokoi and South Korea’s Joo Cheonhui.
The tournament, which spans five event categories, is expected to showcase thrilling encounters as the world’s best talents battle for glory throughout the week.
