Aruna Goes Down with TTC in Bundesliga

By Editor

Quadri Aruna and his RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell fell 2-3 at home to visiting Post SV Mühlhausen in the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL).

Despite sealing their place in the TTBL Play-off after a closed 3-2 win over Grünwettersbach last Friday, TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell were displaced from the third spot in the TTBL table by Post SV Mühlhausen following the home loss Aruna and his teammates suffered on Sunday.

Fan Bo Meng and Aruna didn’t have their best day as they both lost with Meng losing 3-1 against Habesohn and Aruna 3-0 against the strong Irvin Bertrand. Aruna, who only returned from the WTT Star Contende in Doha on Friday, has had a used weekend during which he never found his usual form but TTC’s top player had already lost his single against Grünwettersbach.

In the final doubles, Meng and Aruna had no chance against Bertrand and Ionescu. After 15 minutes, TTC’s duo lost 3-0 to hand the visitors a 3-2 win and Mühlhausen now has a better starting position in the battle for third place. TTC’s last league match is away to Schwalbe Bergneustadt on April 13.

A disappointed Aruna said he was a bit tired after the tiring match in Qatar.

“I think I am still recuperating from the fatigue of playing in Doha and I can get back to my feet again in our last league match of the season. It was unfortunate we could not win today but that is table tennis for you as you win some and lose some,” a disappointed Aruna said.
