Aston Villa Chase £21.5million Rated Super Eagles Goal-Machine

BSNSports.com.ng has scooped from French outlet Jeunes Footeux that Aston Villa is preparing an offer to sign Genk striker Paul Onuachu in the January window as Unai Emery’s first signing with the Nigerian valued in the region of £21.5million.

Onuachu, 28, has been in red-hot form, once again. Since joining Genk in 2019, he has clocked up 82 goals in just 127 games for the Belgian side. The 6ft 6 striker’s form has continued this season, netting an incredible 14 goals in 15 matches.

The Nigerian striker has constantly been linked with the Premier League. Back in September, Onuachu said that the Wolves had shown interest in bringing him to Molineux but instead, signed Sasa Kalajdzic from Stuttgart. He has suffered an injury.

So, the Wolves might reignite that interest from January. But, it seems Villa are leading the way and ready to submit an offer to land the 16-time Nigeria star. Genk wants £ 21.5 million, and Villa is ‘considering’ a move to land the giant.

Onuachu’s stats are incredible. To score that many goals, at what is a decent level, is breathtaking. But of course, Genk plays to Onuachu’s strengths. He is 6ft 6in and he will not run the channels for you. He wants balls into the box.

Villa has a lot of attacking talent. Playmakers that want to get in and around the box. Of course, having a big, strong, aerial striker like Onuachu can help that. But, if Villa simply try to find his head, then it would see others struggle.

So, Villa has to get the balance right. Much like Olivier Giroud has done throughout his career, a mix of scoring headers, but also bringing others into play. He could get the best out of Villa duo Emi Buendia and Philippe Coutinho.
