Atalanta Fans To Lookman: Don't Be Afraid To Take Penalties

Despite recent criticism from Gian Piero Gasperini, fans of Atalanta have rallied around Super Eagles star winger, Ademola Lookman, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Lookman missed a penalty kick on Tuesday as La Dea crashed out of the Champions League with a 3-1 defeat to Club Brugge.

Gasperini later slammed the Nigerian for taking the penalty despite being, in his words, ‘one of the worst penalty takers I’ve ever seen.’

Lookman, understandably hurt by his coach’s comments, responded with a public statement, saying he felt it was ‘disrespectful’ to be ‘singled out’ by Gasperini.

In a show of solidarity, the fans placed a banner at the team's training ground that read: "Thanks Lookman, do not be afraid to take penalty"

However, the news of the argument has sparked speculation about Lookman’s potential departure from the Gewiss Stadium next summer, prompting many fans to turn up in numbers in the comment section to express their admiration for the 27-year-old.
