Atalanta Slap N109 Billion On Reigning African Best Player, Ademola Lookman

Ademola Lookman’ Serie A club Atalanta are only willing to listen to offers from £51m (equivalent of N109,568,808,000.00) for Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman amid interests from top clubs in Europe.

One of the clubs interested in Lookman are Liverpool, who are said to be eyeing a move to sign the forward in the summer transfer window.

According to a report from Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, the Merseyside club are looking for reinforcements this summer despite their relative success in the English Premier League this season.

Lookman is bound to leave Atalanta in the summer but the report adds that the club will only be willing to do business if an offer arrives in the region of £51m.

“Then a sale would be inevitable,” Corriere dello Sport stressed.

Other clubs who have been monitoring the player include Atalanta’s Serie A rivals Juventus, EPL side Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa who are both chasing a UEFA Champions League spot.

The 27-year-old joined Atalanta for €10m in the summer of 2022 and the Nigerian’s stock has risen significantly since joining La Dea, with his historic hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen in last season’s Europa League final securing Atalanta’s first-ever European trophy and helping him claim the CAF African Footballer of the Year award in December.

One of the strong indications that the reigning African Footballer of The Year might fancy a move to the EPL is his experience in the English topflight with Everton, Fulham, and Leicester City, springing up a feeling of some unfinished business.

PUNCH Sports Extra reports that Lookman has told Atalanta that he will leave the Bergamo club at the end of the season after submitting a formal transfer request.

The African Player of the Year’s decision comes following a high-profile and very public bust-up with boss Gian Piero Gasperini over a penalty miss, and while it seemed the two had reconciled, the latest report indicates the forward wants a reset.

Lookman already has 18 goals and seven assists across competitions this season.
