Atlas Lions Enter New Era as Ouahbi Replaces Regragui

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has officially confirmed the resignation of Walid Regragui, nearly three weeks after news of his departure first emerged, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Regragui, 50, opted to step down following an intense managerial cycle with the national team. His tenure was highlighted by Morocco’s historic run to the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup — the first time an African nation had reached that stage — but also included a disappointing campaign at the Africa Cup of Nations and a painful defeat to Senegal in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Sources close to the federation indicate that Regragui felt he had taken the Atlas Lions as far as possible and chose to leave of his own accord. Despite initial public denials surrounding his exit, the FRMF delayed formal confirmation until a successor had been secured.
Morocco has appointed Mohamed Ouahbi as head coach, with his mandate running through the FIFA World Cup. Ouahbi arrives after notable success at youth level, most recently guiding Morocco to its first global title in any category by winning the FIFA U-20 World Cup. He previously worked extensively in youth development at RSC Anderlecht.
Recognized for his communication skills and ability to manage diverse squads, Ouahbi now faces the task of translating youth-level success to the senior national team. His tenure will begin with upcoming friendly matches against Ecuador and Paraguay as Morocco prepares for the next World Cup cycle.
