A delegation from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has concluded a four-day inspection of facilities proposed by Nigeria to host the organisation's 48th Ordinary General Assembly and the 2026 CAF Awards, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The five-member CAF team, led by Dr. Christian Emeruwa, completed its assessment on Tuesday after inspecting key venues and infrastructure in Abuja and Lagos. Other members of the delegation included Hervé Dassoundo (Commercial and Branding), Inas Ahmed (Travel and Accommodation), Salah Mostafa (Transport), and Mohammed Bakeer (Technology).

In Abuja, the delegation visited the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, the Transcorp Hilton Hotel and the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, which has been proposed as the venue for the 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly.

The inspection began in Lagos on Sunday, where the CAF officials, accompanied by representatives of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), assessed the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Eko Hotel & Suites and the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts. The cultural centre has been designated as the proposed venue for the 2026 CAF Awards.

During the Lagos visit, the delegation was received by the Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Hon. Lekan Fatodu, alongside the Commission's Director of Sports, Mr. Nunayon Travih.

The team was also given a guided tour of the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts by Mr. Alex Njoku, Special Assistant to the Centre's Director General, Ms. Tola Akerele. Originally constructed for the Second World Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture (FESTAC '77), the facility underwent extensive renovation before being recommissioned in October 2025.

According to the NFF, members of the CAF delegation expressed satisfaction with the quality of the facilities inspected, while underscoring the importance of delivering a seamless, secure, innovative and memorable experience should Nigeria be awarded the hosting rights for the General Assembly and the CAF Awards.
