The 2022-23 season keeps getting better for 25-year-old Nigerian forward - Taiwo Awoniyi, against all the odds, as his recent exploits in the EPL's Matchday 36 game against Chelsea earned him plaudits from legend turn pundit Alan Shearer BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Taiwo joined Forest from Germany's Union Berlin in the summer of 2022 on a €20.5 million move for a five-year contract and has hit the ground running in spite of his team's struggles.

His brace against Chelsea last weekend came after a similar feat in Forest's previous game against Southampton (4 goals in 2 games), after suffering a goal drought since the turn of the new year.

Retired English footballer and current pundit - Alan Shearer, shared his selection for the EPL's Team of the Week, with the most representatives coming from Liverpool starring three players.

Taiwo was the only Nottingham Forest player to make the cut in a front three forward pairing, flanked by Liverpool's Mohamed Salah, and Chelsea's Raheem Sterling - who also bagged a brace against Awoniyi's Forest side on Matchday 36.

Brighton's duo comprising goalie - Jason Steele, and defender - Pervis Estupinan appear among the defensive setup in a three-man defense, with Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Manchester United's Raphael Verane completing the line.

Four different teams produced the four-man midfield, with Aston Villa's Douglas Luiz and Manchester City's IIkay Gundogna holding the forte alongside Liverpool's Curtis Jones on the left, and Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze on the left.

Taiwo now needs two more goals to hit double figures in the English Premier League for the first time, having scored 8 goals while creating another in 25 games thus far - adding his 1 goal in 3 EFL Cup games to the frey for 2022-23.
