Awoniyi's Injury: Santo Defends Nottingham Forest’s Medical Staff

Nuno Espirito Santo has defended Nottingham Forest’s medical staff after they decided to allow Super Eagles forward Taiwo Awoniyi to continue playing against Leicester City, BSNSports.com.ng has sourced.
The Nigerian collided with a post during the closing stages of last weekend’s 2-2 draw at the City Ground.
He received treatment but returned to the pitch for the final minutes, although he was clearly struggling.
On Monday, Awoniyi was taken to the hospital, where he is recovering after undergoing two operations for a serious abdominal injury.
Head coach Nuno acknowledged the challenges faced by the medical staff when making quick decisions under pressure.
“Of course, it’s a tough job. Decisions need to be made swiftly. But we are top professionals, and we must be ready for it,” said the Portuguese manager.
“We definitely communicated with the medical staff and engaged in dialogue. We always strive to analyse what happened.
“However, we cannot let this stop us. We evaluate the situation as we always do. Above all, our priority is the players’ health.
“The welfare of our players is always our top concern, as it is for the medical staff, and they perform their roles exceptionally well.”
