BAL 2024: We Were Wasteful Against Rivers Hoopers -Gaye

The head coach of the AS Douanes Mamadou Gaye has said they were wasteful against Nigeria's Rivers Hoopers despite recording a win, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The host club narrowly edged the Nigerians in game 4 of the 2024 Sahara Conference of the African Basketball League to make 2 wins and 2 defeats.

" I only remember the victory because 22 lost balls is pathetic. A glaring lack of skill in 4 out of 23 (in winning shots), in 2 points 19 out of 46.

We will have to progress despite the victory. To reach the level we had last year, we will have to reach 80 points and there, we are very far behind. It's good to win, I encourage them, and I congratulate them. But a lot of things still need to be corrected.

Because there is a lot of waste on both sides of the field.

We lack lucidity at a given moment in the match because we cannot afford, at a given moment in the match, to lead the score with 8 or even 9 points and let the opponent come back. And at the end of the match, we weren't too calm.

Two lost balls, one at 8 seconds and the other due to a misunderstanding between two players.

Things that we could well avoid and which could cost us the match," he said.
