Sampson Adedeji
Maktown Flyers forward Patrick Ogbodeje Abah has revealed his ambition to play in the NBA following his impressive performances at the ongoing 2026 Basketball Africa League (BAL) Sahara Conference, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Abah, who emerged as the Most Valuable Player in the Nigerian Basketball League last season, has been one of the standout performers for the Nigerian champions in the continental competition.
The 6'8" forward spoke about his future ambitions in an interview with the BAL official website, stating that the NBA remains the ultimate destination for every ambitious African basketball player.
“For any ambitious young African basketball player, the NBA is the ultimate goal, but playing professionally in Europe or the BAL is an excellent alternative,” Abah said.
He also praised the rapid growth of the Basketball Africa League, describing the competition as a major platform for African talents to gain global recognition.
“If the BAL continues to develop at the same pace, I am convinced that young Africans will consider it their primary goal.
"It's a fantastic platform to showcase our talent, and I would be delighted to participate in it in the future,” he concluded.
Abah’s performances have been a bright spot for Maktown Flyers as they continue their campaign in the BAL 2026 Sahara Conference.
