BAL 2026: Maktown Flyers Suffer Third Straight Defeat

Sampson Adedeji

Nigerian champions Maktown Flyers suffered a major setback in their quest to qualify for the playoffs of the Basketball Africa League 2026 season after falling to a third consecutive defeat on Friday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigerian side had opened their Sahara Conference campaign on a positive note with a victory over JCA Kings, raising hopes of a strong outing in the competition.

However, back-to-back defeats in subsequent games have now dented their chances of progressing to the next stage of the tournament.

Maktown Flyers were up against Tunisian side Club Africain on Friday and despite a bright start to the encounter, they eventually lost 86-77.

The Nigerian champions showed good intensity in the opening stages and competed strongly against the North African side, but Club Africain gradually took control of the game and capitalised on key moments to secure the victory.

The defeat leaves Maktown Flyers in a difficult position in the Sahara Conference standings as they continue their search for a return to winning ways in the competition.
