Nigeria’s representatives, the Maktown Flyers, have crashed out of the 2026 Basketball Africa League (BAL) Sahara Conference following their defeat to ASC De Dakar on Sunday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Nigerian side entered the crucial encounter needing a victory to keep their playoff hopes alive, but they failed to overcome the Senegalese club.
Maktown Flyers started the game brightly and showed early determination, but ASC De Dakar gradually took control of the contest to establish a commanding lead.
At halftime, the Dakar-based side were already ahead 41-27, putting the Nigerian team under intense pressure heading into the second half.
ASC De Dakar maintained their dominance after the break and eventually sealed a convincing 79-62 victory to secure the final playoff ticket from the Sahara Conference.
The result means Maktown Flyers have officially been eliminated from the competition, ending Nigeria’s hopes of reaching the BAL 2026 playoffs.
