Nigeria’s representatives, Maktown Flyers, recorded a historic victory at the 2026 Basketball Africa League (BAL) Sahara Conference with a commanding 78–68 win over JCA Kings of Côte d’Ivoire in Rabat, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigerian side delivered a composed and disciplined performance from start to finish, controlling key moments of the game to secure their first win of the tournament. Their defensive solidity and efficient scoring proved decisive against a resilient JCA Kings side.

Beyond the victory, the result marks a significant milestone for Nigerian basketball on the continental stage. 

Maktown Flyers have now become the first Nigerian team to win their debut game in the BAL, underlining their impressive entry into Africa’s premier club competition.

The Flyers also set another benchmark, recording the highest points tally by a Nigerian team in their first-ever BAL appearance.

The result boosts their standing in the Sahara Conference and provides strong momentum as they continue their campaign in Rabat.
