BREAKING: Super Falcons Boycott Training Over Unpaid Appearance Allowances

The Super Falcons refused a schedule training session this morning as players were demanding the immediate payment of their appearance fee, BSNSports.com.ng authoritatively reports.

Money is actually the last thing on the players mind right now, as they are focused on defending and returning home with a bronze medal.

The NFF is also understood to have promised to pay allowances at the ongoing WAFCON tournament.

But the organisation, which receives direct funding from government are yet to issued promises to Falcons.

It is not the first time the Super Falcons and the NFF have clashed over unpaid bonuses and allowances.

Eighteen years ago, the team remained in their hotel in South Africa for three days after the Nigeria FA, as the NFF was then called, failed to pay their bonuses for winning the 2004 African Women’s Championship.

Nigerian teams have frequently been affected by pay disputes, with coaches regularly going unpaid and players boycotting training during qualifiers or at tournaments over unpaid bonuses.

However, Randy Waldrum’s side will battle the Zambians for the bronze medal at the Stade Mohamed V, Casablanca on Friday.

The Super Falcons will play their second game at the ground following the quarter-final win against the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon.

It is the second time the West Africans will play in a third-place match at the WAFCON.
