Bala Abubakar: Gusau/Ahlan Cup Title Feat Will Spur Niger Tornadoes To NPFL Title

Abubakar Bala, Technical Adviser of Niger Tornadoes is positive about enjoying a successful Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL season after his side’s were crowned champions of Gusau/Ahlan Super Cup.

The Ikon Allah had started their campaign with a shocking 3-0 loss to fellow Nigerian topflight side Gombe United, but that did not halt their dreams as they edge the Savannah Scorpions to the coveted top prize.

The Minna-based men only required a 38th minute striker from the spot from Waheed Adebayo to claim their on revenge against their group stage tormentors from Damaturu to secure the inaugural pre-season title.

And Bala refused to be take all the credits of the club’s remarkable feat at the competition held in Kano as he attributed the success to the team’s fans and their supportive management led by Honorable Adamu Aliyu.

“Winning the Gusau/Ahlan preseason tournament is the right tonic my team need going into the season,” the former Kogi United and Lokoja FC handler told Nigeriafootball.ng.

“I recall Honourable Adamu Aliyu’s words of encouragement after we lost our first group match to Gombe United, that it would end up being a blessing in disguise and we will win the cup, that has now come to pass.

“This victory has exposed our weaknesses and strength which we shall work on, as the team is a work in progress.”

Bala whose coaching pedigree, defied the odds to beat other teams for the 2022 edition of the Gusau/Ahlan Cup, has now appleaded to the club’s management to intensify effort in quest for a smooth NPFL campaign.

“I want to sincerely appeal to the management in ensuring the club continues its preparations and does not relax in its oars, just as it happened last season because of lack of funds which was responsible for the bad start and genesis of our relegation struggles,” he continued.

“We appeal to all fans and supporters to solidly get behind the team with prayers for our only State darling club. We are sincerely grateful to the Chairman of the Tornadoes Management Committee and his members, as we dedicate this trophy to the fans for their faith in us and to Honourable Adamu Aliyu as his support is our source of inspiration, as we wish ourselves the best in the new season.”
