Basketball: I Teach My Children Nigerian Culture - Antetokounmpo

Nigeria-born Greek Basketball star Giannis Antetokounmpo has said he's teaching his children to know more about his Nigerian root, BSNSports.com.ng has gathered.

Giannis has been one of the big stars in the NBA, he has helped his club Milwaukee Bucks to the league title in the past and has also won the league Most Valuable Player back-to-back in the past.

During the release of his film tagged Naija Odyssey, he said they only accept him as a citizen in Greece.

" I teach my children both my Greek and Nigerian culture. 

"That's what my parents did and that's what I do. It's good that I can share my story and let people know where I'm from.

"But the world must understand that I am not only Greek or Nigerian. 

"At first, my parents felt strange. You can't choose the nickname but I can tell the world that I was born and raised in Greece but I also know things about Nigeria.

" I am not one thing. In Greece, they told me that I was not Greek enough. This used to bother me when I was young. They told me that I was not Greek enough, that I was Nigerian. 

"I don't have the same skin. They were telling me to go back to my Nigerian friends.

"In Nigeria, I was told I wasn't Nigerian enough because I didn't speak the language. That I did not understand Igbo", he said.
