Basketball: Kada Kings, RealOne Are U19 Presidential Cup Champions

Kada Kings and RealOne on Friday emerged champions of men's and women's U19 Presidential basketball championship held in Kaduna.

The City of Kaduna was agog on Friday with the very best of grassroot Basketball in the Presidential Basketball Fiesta tagged the President Cup for Under 19 Basketball Players.

The Event which was powered by the Daniel Amokachi Foundation was fully supported by the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and the Office of the President of Nigeria.

Ten basketball teams scattered across the state participated in the event with five male teams ; Aspire , Kada kings, Zinix ,City elites and Mando Achievers while the female teams include F.G.E.I, Realones, T.v Regents ,Great minds and Lord knows.

Organiser of the Event Daniel Amokachi who is the Special Assistant to Nigeria President on Sports said the event is mainly to enhance the Country's Grassroot drive.

He maintained that the event is not just a one off but plans are in place to spread it to other States beyond Kaduna.

He added that it was deliberate to start with Basketball and Football but it will be expanded to other Sports like Athletics, Boxing, Weightlifting and Wrestling in subsequent editions.

Meanwhile Realones Basketball Academy emerged winners of the Female tournament beating Great Minds 7-3 points in the 3 x 3 event while in the Boys final Kada Kings defeated Zinix Academy in an enthralling final .

All participating Academies got Hundred Thousand Naira with two Basketball each. 

Winners of the tournament went up with Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira while the Runners up teams got Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira each.
