Calvin Bassey has opened up about his relationship with Ghana Black Stars Mohammed Kudus since joining Ajax Amsterdam from Rangers, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Super Eagles defender joined the Eredivise champions for a record-breaking transfer fee worth €23 million euros.

Bassey who's settling in since moving to the Netherlands, seems to be getting on well with Kudus.

"We knew each other because we played against each other not so long ago, with Nigeria and Ghana in the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying game.

"In the field it was a lot less friendly, haha. The rest of the players I know mainly from television, but they are everyone is very relaxed and try to put me at ease at Ajax. On the field you always get to know each other quickly anyway and the click feels good," concludes Bassey.

Meanwhile, it was a debut to forget for the Nigerian as he was sent off 16 minutes in the Johan Cruyff Shield. A 10-man Ajax however lost the game 5-3 to PSV Eindvoen

The straight red card earned Bassey a two match ban, thus will miss Ajax games against Fortuna Sittard and Groningen.
