Bassey Reflects On Growth And Style Of Play At Fulham

Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey has spoken candidly about his development and unique style of play, following a standout season with Fulham FC, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Bassey, who was voted Fulham’s Player of the Season, attributed his success to his confidence and desire to leave a mark on the pitch.

“I’m an exciting centre-back one who likes to attack,” Bassey told Sky Sports.

“I’ll go on the occasional dribble, and my manager understands that. He knows what kind of player I am.”

The Nigerian international emphasized his self-belief and impact on both ends of the field.

 “I trust myself with the ball. I want my presence to be felt, with or without it,” he added.

Reflecting on the season, Bassey said personal accolades were never the goal.

“It wasn’t about being Player of the Season. It was about improving on my first year. I think I managed that.”

He also noted the team’s missed opportunity to secure a European spot.

“We had chances to push for the Europa League, but a few inconsistent performances cost us. Still, it was a step forward.”
