Bayelsa Queens Condemned To Win NWFL Title - Domo Okara

Precious Oham

Bayelsa Queens' head coach, Domo Okara, emphasized the necessity of a victory in their final match against Edo Queens to keep their title hopes alive in the 2023/2024 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership campaign, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

A goalless draw with Heartland Queens on Friday significantly dented their chances, compounded by wins for both Rivers Angels and Edo Queens. This result leaves Bayelsa Queens needing not just a win, but a decisive one, to reclaim the league title on home soil.

"Football is a tactical game. What we will have to do is win the last game and see how it goes, but anything can happen. We are condemned to win.

While reflecting on their Heartland draw, he further expressed his disappointment in the team's inability to secure three points, citing their failure to score as the primary issue.

"It's football. We did our best, but our best wasn't good enough. You can't win games without scoring goals. We don't have anything to blame other than ourselves."

Sunday's clash promises to be a tactical battle between Okara and his predecessor, Moses Aduku, who now leads Edo Queens. Aduku, who previously led Bayelsa Queens to a league title and the President Federation Cup, hopes to replicate his success with Edo Queens in Yenegoa.

Okara, who won a bronze medal at the 2022 CAF Women's Champions League and last season's President Federation Cup, is determined to secure his second major title. The match will be a decisive showdown for both coaches and their teams, with Bayelsa Queens aiming for a triumphant finish on their home turf.
