Less than 10 days after the death of Referee Kingsley Nnaemeka in a fatal auto accident on his way back from an NPFL Matchday five fixture in Kaduna, the Nigeria Premier Football League has once again been thrown into mourning with the demise of Bayelsa United goalkeepers coach Ernest Teigbanyo, reports BSNSports.com.ng.
In a post shared on the club's official WhatsApp Group on Friday morning by its Media Director Hannanel Jackson read.
Bayelsa United is extremely saddened to report that coach Ernest Teigbanyo has passed on after a brief illness on Thursday.
Our thoughts and prayers to his family in this sad and difficult time.
Speaking with Hannanel: "It's a mourning mood for everyone at the club after the news broke, Friday's training sessions were put on hold too, as everyone is taking time to reflect on the memories shared with Teigbanyo.
"His body has been deposited in a morgue, and the next line of action is to meet with his family and plan for his burial rites."
The Restoration Boys were to host Rivers United in a South-South Derby but had to wait, owing to the CAF Confederation Cup engagement of the Garden City team.
Rivers United on Friday departed for Brazzaville Congo, ahead of the group stage tie against Diables Noirs on Sunday billed for the Alphonse Massamba-Debat Stadium, Stade Marchand.
