Former Skipper of Nigeria's Sand Eagles Isiaka Olawale has insisted that the team is not ready to compete for a place in the 2024 Beach African Cup of Nations, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

After a few years of absence, the team was reinstated by the President of the Nigeria Football Federation Ibrahim Gusau.

The Nigerian side was pitched against Mauritania in the qualifier and Olawale has stated the team is not prepared for the game.

" It's going to affect us because it's over 3 years now, if you look at the time factor, it's very very short", he told Brila FM.

"Most of the players now, maybe the ones to be selected for this particular competition, I think almost about 70 to 80 percent are new players, so they are very new in the game.

"The most important thing is that if they can put the house together and then if the boys can be able to at least assemble themselves in like one month before the competition or 3 weeks, I think it will be okay," he added.
