Belgian Club Name Former Super Eagles Striker As Assistant Coach

Belgian Jupiler League side KV Kortrijk has named former Nigeria's Super Eagles striker Joseph Akpala as its new assistant coach, BSNSports.com..ng understands.

Akpala started his professional career with the Nigeria league side Bendel Insurance before moving to Royal Charleroi of Belgium in the year 2006.

He won the top scorer title in 2008. He then scored 56 goals in 168 games for Club Brugge. 

Akpala also played in Germany and Turkey before returning to Belgium to represent KV Oostende.

Kortrijk on Friday afternoon confirmed that Akpala will be the new assistant to Adnan Custovic to rescue the season for the club.

" VK Kortrijk expands the technical staff with Jimmy Hempte and Joseph Akpala. They join Adnan Custovic's staff and start working as assistant coaches", the club said.

Akpala has nine caps for Nigeria's Super Eagles and scored once.
