With less than two weeks left before the start of the 2022-2023 Belgian Jupiler Pro League season, Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu has been voted as the best marksman.

BSNSports.com.ng sourced from the Jupiler Pro League via it's partner Stats Perform, StaThursday, spotlighted players who have dominated their domestic over the past five seasons.

For most goals in the last five years was credited to Genko's goal machine, Paul Onuachu, who rattled the net 63 times with his head or feet.

According to the stats, this represents an average of 21 goals per season as the Nigerian striker has only been at KRC Genk since the summer of 2019.

In 2020-21, Onuachu scored 33 goals. Since the creation of the Pro League (in 1974), only Erwin Vandenbergh has done better with 39 goals for Lierse SK during the 1979-1980 season.

Just behind the FC Ebedei product, comes Hans Vanaken with 61 goals, carefully distributed over the last five years. The Bruges playmaker stands out for his consistency. Roman Yaremchuk, who left KAA Gent for Portuguese club Benfica in the summer of 2021, completes the top 3.

Interesting fact: with the exception of Dieumerci Mbokani (5th, 43 goals), the entire top 5 scored more goals than expected according to Stats Perform's xG algorithm.
