Bendel Insurance Gets New Chairman Ahead of 2025/26 NPFL Campaign

 The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, has announced the appointment of Emperor Jarret Tenebe as the new Chairman of Bendel Insurance Football Club, effective immediately.

The announcement, made via a statement issued by Enabulele’s media aide, Edoko Wilson Edoko, confirms that Tenebe will step into the role formerly held by Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu, the ex-Deputy Governor of Edo State, who was recently appointed Director General of the National Institute for Sports (NIS) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to Enabulele, the appointment is part of the Edo State Government’s strategic efforts to bolster the club’s management structure as it prepares for the upcoming 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

 “This decision aligns with Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo’s vision of elevating Bendel Insurance FC to new heights,” Enabulele stated.

“With Emperor Tenebe’s vast experience in football administration — including his time as NFA Chairman — we are confident he will guide the club toward greater success.”

Bendel Insurance FC finished in fifth place last season and is aiming to improve its standing and performance both on and off the pitch.

Enabulele further emphasized the state government’s commitment to using sports as a vehicle for youth empowerment and social development, a key pillar of Governor Okpebholo’s broader agenda.

The official unveiling ceremony for Emperor Tenebe as the club’s new chairman is scheduled to take place next week in Benin City.
