Benedict Akwuegbu Predicts Tough Start For Éric Chelle
Precious Oham
Former Super Eagles striker, Benedict Akwuegbu has predicted a tough start for Éric Chelle in his reign as Super Eagles gaffer, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Speaking from his base in the UK in a monitored sports radio program, the ex-international urged Nigerians not to expect immediate impact from the new Super Eagles handler.
According to him, "in football, you cannot say exactly what will happen. We have to wait and see what happens so that we know if the NFF took the right decision or not.
"Nigerians should not expect the coach overnight because this is a different terrain, different country, different style of play. It's going to need a lot of patience. Let us wait and see how things unfold.
"Nigerians love football and a lot of people think it's a computer game. Football has changed now. There is no minnows in football again. It will be a lot of pressure on him especially the Super Eagles are not doing well in the road to the World Cup and we have not qualified for the last World Cup.
"It will not be easy for him to qualify us for the World Cup but let's wait and see how it goes."
Recall that the Nigeria Football Federation on Monday unveiled Chelle as the new Head Coach of the Super Eagles.
