Betting Scandal: Suspended Plateau United Goalkeeper Demands Fair Hearing From NPFL

Plateau United goalkeeper Adewale Adeyinka has responded to the Nigeria Premier Football League’s (NPFL) betting allegations, insisting he deserves a fair hearing, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The allegations have stalled Adeyinka’s proposed move to Shooting Stars, with the former Kwara United shot-stopper saying he has sought clarification but received no clear response.
“Football has always been my life, taking me across many clubs and even giving me the chance to represent Nigeria. Playing in front of fans every week is a privilege I’ve never taken for granted,” Adeyinka said.
“Recently, there have been reports about my refusal to sign a clause related to ‘insider betting’. I have nothing to hide and nothing to fear. I simply believe every contract should be transparent, fair, and protect both the player and the club.
“Unfortunately, this decision led to the early termination of my deal with Plateau United. Now, with my almost-new club, Shooting Stars, the same matter has resulted in my suspension by the league board.
“I understand the need to protect the integrity of Nigerian football, but sometimes standing by your principles can be misunderstood. I am committed to clearing my name, rebuilding my image, and continuing to play with passion and professionalism.
“To my fans, teammates, and colleagues thank you for your support. This fight for my career is also a fight for fairness and truth.”
