Birmingham Manager Urges Osayi-Samuel To Fight For Place

Birmingham City manager Chris Davies has encouraged Super Eagles star Bright Osayi-Samuel to fight hard for his starting position at the club, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Nigerian winger has struggled to secure a regular spot in the squad following a recent dip in form due to injury, allowing Japanese defender Tomoki Iwata to move ahead of him in the pecking order.
Ahead of Birmingham’s weekend clash against Watford, Davies, while speaking to Birmingham Mail, emphasized the need for Osayi-Samuel to raise his performance level and reclaim his shirt.
“Bright has been brought in to be an important player for us,” Davies said.
“He made a good start, then with injuries, he found himself out of the team.
“Tomoki was moved to right-back because both right-backs were injured and Tomoki has been one of, if not the best full-back in the league in that time, he’s been exceptional.
“There’s an opportunity for Bright to come in and show what he can do because he’s an international player, he’s played at a really good level and he’s been working well.”
Osayi-Samuel, who has featured for the Super Eagles in recent international matches, will now aim to impress in training and force his way back into the starting eleven as Birmingham seeks stability in its campaign.
